KAYAK RACE - 2008 October 26th
After a day of huge south easter Sunday dawned calm and hot - at the start location anyway. Once we were out of the protection of Simons Bay however the swells and waves jacked up and the wind climbed to a fresh 30kph. Waves around the lighthouse were large enough to force most of the paddlers to skirt around the back of the reef rather than between the reef and lighthouse, which is not something that's happened before.
